Dear DGS Families,

We are excited to welcome students back after the winter break and it has been wonderful to see them return with stories of time well spent with family and friends.

As communicated in September, due to continued enrolment growth at Dr. George Stanley School, we have reached capacity. As a result, we will be conducting our first lottery on February 11. Over the coming weeks, we will be sending several messages to families to ensure our lists are accurate. Please review the news item below and complete any required information if it applies to your family. As a reminder, the lottery process will apply to Grade 5 students from Seton for the 2026–27 school year and beyond. The number of available spaces will be limited. Space will continue to be maintained at Dr. George Stanley School for students from Sibylla Kiddle School who live in Cranston and are entering Grade 6

For more information on how priority is determined, please visit our school website.

January is an important month at Dr. George Stanley School, as it marks the final month of Term 1. During this time, students are completing final assessments and tests that will determine their report card grades. We encourage parents to regularly review grades in Power School from your MyCBE account Account, watch for any missing or incomplete work, and check Google Classroom to stay informed about course content and final due dates. Let’s work together to ensure students finish the term strong.

Warm regards,

Chris Keuben
Principal | Dr. George Stanley School

Attendance Area Update for the 2026–2027 School Year

As we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year, we are preparing for the student lottery process, which will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Available spaces are determined on a grade-by-grade basis, making accurate enrolment information especially important.

To support this planning, we are asking only families who know that their child will NOT be returning to Dr. George Stanley School for the 2026–2027 school year to complete a brief survey.

Knowing in advance if students will be leaving helps us:

  • Accurately determine the number of spaces that may become available in each grade, and
  • Ensure the lottery process is carried out as fairly and transparently as possible.

If your child will be returning to Dr. George Stanley School next year, no action is required.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we plan for the upcoming school year. If you have questions about enrolment planning or the lottery process, please contact the school office.

Reminder | Fees

This is a friendly reminder to please review and pay your student’s school fees as soon as possible. These fees are essential for supporting a strong complementary class program, providing unique and engaging field trip opportunities, and sustaining our exceptional interscholastic sports teams. You can view and pay fees, register for services like transportation and lunch supervision, and print receipts all through your MyCBE account at cbe.ab.ca/mycbe. If you need assistance accessing your account or paying online, please contact the school office or visit the CBE Fees & Waivers page for more details.

The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that no child is ever denied access to education because of an inability to pay fees. Families who need financial support may be eligible for a Central Fee Waiver, which can cover central fees such as transportation, lunch supervision, student supplies, and instrument rental if approved. Waiver applications are submitted online through yourMyCBE account and require supporting documentation; please apply early as processing can take several weeks. For full information on the waiver process, eligibility, and deadlines, visit the CBE Fees & Waivers website.
