Dear DGS Families,
As we move into December, we are looking forward to a number of exciting learning opportunities and celebrations across our school community. This time of year always brings meaningful experiences for students, and we appreciate your continued support.
A key focus this month is strengthening our connection with Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School, our designated high school. Several upcoming events will give students a chance to explore the JCS community, see programs in action, and build familiarity as they prepare for Grade 10. We are grateful for the ongoing collaboration between our schools and the shared commitment to supporting student success.
We are also pleased to highlight a number of arts-based learning experiences taking place in December. Our Grade 9 Band students have been invited to perform in a winter season concert at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, joining the JCS Band onstage—an exciting opportunity to perform in a professional venue. In addition, students will travel to JCS to watch a live drama production, extending their classroom learning about theme, mood, and suspense. These experiences help deepen understanding and create memorable learning moments for our students.
Creating a safe and caring school community goes beyond our school walls. We are pleased to welcome our School Resource Officer, Constable Villani, who will be speaking with our Grade 6 students about responsible and safe online behaviour. His social media presentation will cover topics such as cyberbullying, online scams, and healthy use of social media and the internet. We will be looking for opportunities for other grades to also engage in this topic later this year.
Wrestling season is also underway, and it has been great to see so many students getting involved. Our athletes have been working hard, showing dedication and sportsmanship as they learn new skills and challenge themselves. The season wraps up later this month, and we are proud of the commitment our students have shown.
Finally, December will feature a number of winter-themed days and celebrations to help build school spirit and foster a sense of fun and connection as we head toward the break. We look forward to sharing these moments with our students.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Warm regards,
Chris Keuben

Indoor Shoes
As we move into late fall, we are experiencing more mixed weather and muddy conditions. To help keep our gym spaces clean and safe for everyone, we ask that students bring a pair of indoor shoes to change into. This simple step will make a big difference in maintaining a tidy and safe environment for all our activities.
