Dear DGS families
Please join us in congratulating our Grade 9 badminton team, who took home the championship at their divisional tournament - a tremendous accomplishment! We’re proud of their teamwork and determination. And as our Grade 6 team begins their divisional tonight, we wish them the very best of luck. Go DGS!
We’re eagerly anticipating our upcoming DGS Band performance on May 27. With all the hard work and rehearsals happening, we know our student musicians are going to blow us away! Best of luck to all our performers and a special shout-out to Mrs. Thomas for her leadership, energy, and dedication. There will be daytime performances for students, which is a wonderful opportunity for our learners to support their peers and celebrate the arts together. We are also thrilled to welcome our amazing school community to the evening performance. It promises to be a memorable event!
We’d also like to remind families that students should refrain from bringing or using spray perfumes, colognes, or body sprays at school. These products can cause allergic reactions or respiratory issues for some students and staff. We ask for your support in discussing this with your child to help us maintain a healthy and inclusive environment for everyone.
Finally, we have a number of exciting clubs running right now, offering students a chance to explore new interests and connect with peers. Please see the updated list below. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for volunteering their time to make these enriching and engaging opportunities possible.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Request from Grade 9 Leadership
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! I’m excited to share that we will be hosting a bake sale to support our school’s diverse cultures and to fundraise for our school. The bake sale is scheduled for Wednesday May 21 and Thursday May 22, during lunch.
We would love for you and your children to participate by donating baked goods that can be connected to your culture. Whether it’s cookies, brownies, cupcakes, or your family’s special treat, every contribution will help make this event a success!
Please make sure your baked goods do not need to be placed in a freezer, fridge or need to be baked when arriving at school, and LABEL your container so we can return it to you! If you are able to donate, please make sure to include your ingredients list attached to the sweet treat!
Please make sure your treat (with label and ingredient list) is sent to school with your student on Tuesday May 20, or the morning of Wednesday May 21!
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing what delicious treats you bring!
Warm regards,
Grade 9 Leadership

Special Thanks to Parent Society
I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Parent Society for their ongoing support and generosity. Over the past several years, their contributions have made a remarkable impact on student learning, well-being, and school spirit.
Thanks to their support, we've been able to purchase important resources such as art and outdoor education supplies, Chromebooks and laptop carts, digital cameras, and classroom technology like Bluetooth speakers and iPads. They have also helped enhance school experiences through additions like intramural sports equipment, a Gaga Ball pit, archery sets, and musical theatre supplies. In addition, Parent Society funding for events - like hot chocolate days, Kernels popcorn, Meet the Teacher food trucks, and Grade 9 farewell celebrations - has brought joy, connection, and lasting memories to our school community.
Your dedication and generosity continue to enhance the experiences of all students and staff at Dr. George Stanley School. We are truly grateful for all that you do.
