Dear DGS families

We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend with your loved ones!

A would like to start off by expressing how incredibly proud we are of our badminton teams for their outstanding performance in recent tournament play! Our Grade 6, 7, and 9 teams each brought home 1st place in their divisions, while our Grade 8 team earned a strong 2nd place finish. These are exceptional results, and we commend all our student-athletes and coaches for their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Well done, everyone!

As we plan ahead for the 2025-26 school year, we want to remind families to review the updated walk zones and register for transportation, if applicable. The Calgary Board of Education sent a detailed message to families earlier today through SchoolMessenger outlining important updates. To find our school's walk zones, visit the CBE’s Find a School Tool and follow the step-by-step instructions provided. Transportation registration opens today, and eligible families will receive a follow-up email with details about registration and proposed fees.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. With just a few weeks left in the school year, we look forward to finishing strong together and celebrating all the growth and achievements of our students. Have a great week!

Students that will be attending DGS next year in grades 7, 8 and 9 will be registered in complementary courses next year base on selections that you approve. To aid us in this process we would request that students complete a selection process outlined below with you. Your student has or is bringing home a paper registration to select their complementary courses for next year. If they did not bring home a copy you can download and print a copy from HERE.

Paper Registration (on the paper sent home Wednesday, May 21)

  1. Review the paper registration brought home by your student.
  2. Read through the course descriptions with your student. These descriptions can be found HERE.

Those that do not choose a yearlong comp course must choose 5. Place a check mark beside your selections on your registration form (brought home by your child)
  4. Sign your student’s selection on the form (brought home by your child) and ensure that they have written their homeroom teachers name on the form.

Special Thanks to Parent Society

I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Parent Society for their ongoing support and generosity. Over the past several years, their contributions have made a remarkable impact on student learning, well-being, and school spirit.

Thanks to their support, we've been able to purchase important resources such as art and outdoor education supplies, Chromebooks and laptop carts, digital cameras, and classroom technology like Bluetooth speakers and iPads. They have also helped enhance school experiences through additions like intramural sports equipment, a Gaga Ball pit, archery sets, and musical theatre supplies. In addition, Parent Society funding for events - like hot chocolate days, Kernels popcorn, Meet the Teacher food trucks, and Grade 9 farewell celebrations - has brought joy, connection, and lasting memories to our school community.

Your dedication and generosity continue to enhance the experiences of all students and staff at Dr. George Stanley School. We are truly grateful for all that you do.
