Dear DGS Families,

People often wonder what happens during teacher non-instructional days. This upcoming Friday, our staff will gather together to:

  • Work in our formal  Professional Learning Communities related to Literacy, Mathematics and Student Well-being to incorporate system-wide Middle Years Learning strategies into classroom and school-wide practices
  • Work in Grade Teams to hold Collaborative Team Meetings
  • Participate in whole staff learning related to our School Development Plan for the 2024-2025 school year

We greatly appreciate this time together as a team of professionals, as it is an opportunity to dig deeper into the work we want students to be able to take on each and every day.

Soft Entry

In anticipation of colder weather, we want to make sure everyone has the same information around soft entry, lunchtime, etc. Soft Entry starts at 8am. We do not open the doors before this time, even in inclement weather, as this is a full half hour before classes begin. As of 8am, teachers are on supervision inside and outside of the building. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather, as students who arrive before 8am will be waiting outside.

If the temperatures drop below -20, students have the option to stay inside at lunch. We do provide outdoor supervision at lunchtime for students who are committed to being polar bears.

Course Fees and Lunch Supervision Registration

Each Fall, we begin the process of loading individual course fees for Complementary Classes Grades 7-9. This process does take time. We anticipate that in the next few weeks that the courses that have fees associated with them have been added to your account; fees are due when assigned. Also please note: all grade 5 and 6 students that stay at school for lunch must  be registered to do so.

Fees and registration can be found on your MyCBE account.

School Store Open through to October 31, 2024

We are pleased to present our Fall 2024 SWAG store located at https://silverbackgroup.ca/dr-gs-school.html

Our store will remain open until October 31, 2024. All orders will be shipped TOGETHER to the school and distributed to students when they arrive. We anticipate all orders will arrive in early November.

Lost & (Never) Found

Last Friday, we blitzed the Lost and Found, but we still have a high number of smaller-size items looking for their owners. Please encourage your child(ren) to check the Lost & Found this week for any forgotten belongings. All items still in the Lost and Found on Thursday November 7 will be donated to charity.
