Dear DGS Families,

We are very excited about the many opportunities we have to connect, learn, and engage with our school community as we welcome families and community partners into the school for a variety of events that highlight collaboration, learning, and our shared commitment to student well‑being and success.

Our next School Council and Parent Society meetings will take place on April 29 beginning at 7:00 PM. We will continue to offer a hybrid format.  Further information is provided below.

We are also excited to welcome incoming students and their families to our Open House on April 30 from 6:00–7:00 PM at Dr. George Stanley School. The evening will begin with a presentation in the main gym, where we will share information about student transitions, programming, school culture, and opportunities for both students and caregivers to become involved in our school community. Families will then be invited to tour the school and explore a variety of learning spaces, including our complementary classrooms.

On the same day, April 30, our Grade 8 students will take part in a presentation on Artificial Intelligence, Cyberbullying, and Online Safety, designed to help them navigate today’s rapidly evolving digital world. The session will examine how social media, digital footprints, and emerging technologies such as AI are shaping online identities and blurring the line between real and generated content. Students will also learn about digital exploitation, including sextortion, how to recognize cyberbullying, and strategies for staying safe online and accessing support when needed.

Today, our grade 8 students attended Safe and Fair: Scene at Work, an educational play presented through the Alberta Workers’ Health Centre’s Workplays Schools Program. This engaging performance helps students better understand workplace safety and their rights as young workers, including the Right to Know, the Right to Participate, and the Right to Refuse unsafe work. Through theatre, students explored the risks young workers may face and gained practical knowledge to support informed and safe decision‑making.

Finally, please note that this Friday is a non‑instructional day, as teachers and support staff will be engaged in professional learning. There will be no classes for students.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and engagement in our school community.

We look forward to another amazing week of learning ahead.

Warm regards,

Chris Keuben
Principal | Dr. George Stanley School

Next Year Survey

Please complete this form if you have a specific request for your child's next year classes or if you intend on your child attending another school in the fall.  If neither is applicable, you do not need to proceed.

Each year, teachers meet in grade teams to create homeroom classes for the upcoming school year. Teachers take into account academic and social needs of students as well as class size to create balanced homerooms. This form provides an opportunity for parents to make requests for next year prior to our grade team meetings scheduled for later early in May.

If your child is currently at one of our elementary feeder schools, please contact their homeroom teacher via email to make any requests.

Requests can be submitted until noon on Friday, May 8, 2026. As timetabling is a complex process, late requests will not be considered unless there are extenuating circumstances. Next Year Survey | 2026-2027 – Fill out form

School Council and Parent Society Meetings

Growing Smiles Fundraiser

Did you know that our School Council Society recently donated $10,000 to DGS? This incredible contribution helped fund new auditory equipment used in our school play—giving our students the chance to shine on stage with confidence and clarity!

This wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of our school families through fundraisers like Growing Smiles.

Now it’s your turn to make a difference again!
Help us continue supporting our kids by ordering your spring flowers—beautiful blooms for your home while directly giving back to our school community.

Every purchase helps create more opportunities, more memories, and more moments for our students to thrive.

Order your spring flowers today and be part of something meaningful!

Orders are live now, and will be delivered May 7, just in time for Mothers day!

Deadline will be April 23.

Rain Barrel Sale

Support the Dr. George Stanley School Fundraising Society while getting your home and garden ready for the season.
