Dear DGS Families

With the arrival of summer, many of you are likely embracing more time outdoors, a slower pace, cherished moments with family and friends, and the opportunity to revisit hobbies or plans that may have been set aside during the school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for creating a welcoming, inclusive, safe, and caring environment through these challenging times. Thank you to our teachers for your hard work in designing engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Thank you as well to those who volunteered to coach teams, run clubs, organize fundraisers and theme days, plan field trips, and - most importantly - take time to listen to, laugh with, and encourage everyone in our learning community. In addition, a sincere thank you to our support staff, who are instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our school.

I would be remiss not to express my heartfelt thanks to caregivers. Your flexibility, understanding, and support of your children and our school are truly appreciated. Teachers have valued your focus on supporting your children and your words of encouragement and kindness throughout the year.

Lastly, I want to thank all of our students. You are the reason we come to school each day. Your enthusiasm and energy feed our spirit. Without you, teaching would simply be a job - thank you for giving our work both purpose and meaning. We are immensely proud of your accomplishments and resilience. We look forward to seeing you continue to grow in the years ahead.  A special farewell to our Grade 9 students - you’ve been leaders in our school, and we are proud of all that you’ve accomplished. We wish you continued success and fulfillment in high school and beyond!

We’re already looking forward to an exciting return to school in the fall! Please continue to check our school website for back-to-school information and visit the CBE website for the latest updates. Our office will reopen on Wednesday, August 27 at 8:00am.

I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer break filled with laughter, connection, and rest. To those moving on, we send our very best wishes for your future endeavours. For everyone else, we can’t wait to welcome you back in the fall!
