Dear DGS Families, 

Last week was semi-finals and finals week in the land of Calgary Middle School Athletics Association basketball- all of our teams played great seasons and we want to congratulate our Senior Girls and Senior Boys Basketball Teams for their First-Place finishes in their Divisions! Yesterday, we hosted our Wrestling Quad Meet and we look forward to January, when Volleyball will begin. Our Musical is well underway, and we are currently planning our Grade 7 and 8/9 Concert evenings for the end of January. With 1/6 of our student population committed to instrumental music, we have a “good problem”- we have outgrown our ability to hold concerts that don’t require tickets for audience members- Ms. Thomas has shared information regarding this specifically with families of students in our music program.

 

West Coast Sailing- Grade 9 SALTS Trip 

Application Packages for the Spring 2024 trip will be available for pick up from Mr. Buist’s room at the end of the day on Friday December 1. The deadline to return packages to the main office is Monday December 11. All applicants will be notified of their trip status (accepted or waitlisted) on Tuesday December 12. Deposit requests will be added to your MyCBE accounts by December 14 and the first deposit instalment is due by Monday December 18. We appreciate that the turnaround is tight, and we are providing timelines and as much advance notice as possible. Full application selection processes are described in the applicant package. 

DGS Parent Fundraising Society    

We are very excited about our upcoming Casino on December 9 and 10 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. We still require 4 more people to be able to cover our shifts. This is a high value fundraiser that has afforded our students access to additional chrome books, learning commons materials, and fieldtrip busses. Click here to volunteer!!

Course Fees and Lunch Supervision Registration  

We have received notice that the courses that have fees associated with them have been added to your account; fees are due when assigned. Also please note: all grade 6 students that stay at school for lunch should be registered to do so.  

Fees and registration can be found on your MyCBE account.
