Wednesday Principal Update - October 11, 2023

Dear DGS Families,

This week’s update is short and sweet, much like this week!

We want to send the BIGGEST shout out to our students; they surpassed our $2000 goal in just ONE week for the Terry Fox Foundation. Congratulations to Mr. Murphy’s homeroom, who won a pizza party for being the top-fundraising homeroom. We can’t wait to see Mr. Murphy without his beard and Ms. Binks with red hair. Thank you to our students who contributed to a beautiful video about how their lives have been impacted by cancer. And a special thank-you to Ms. Thomas and our Jazz Band (Their new name is “ET and the Jazzercize”) who performed “Eye of the Tiger” to get us all moving out the door. Friday was pretty special at our school!

DGS Parent Fundraising Society

We are very excited about our upcoming Casino on December 9 and 10 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. We currently require 26 more people to be able to cover our shifts. This is a high value fundraiser that has afforded our students access to additional chrome books, learning commons materials, and fieldtrip busses. Click here to volunteer!!

Reminder - Grade 6 Students and Noon Hour Supervision

All Grade 6 students who stay at DGS for lunch MUST be registered for noon supervision. We have two fabulous lunchroom supervisors who work with students daily. Students who go home every day at lunch must check out and sign back in. Grade 6 is the last year families pay the noon supervision fee. We provide additional supervision for ALL DGS students so they can enjoy a safe lunch break. Noon Supervision (and registration) information can be found here.
