Dear DGS families
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, it’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the last two months! This is an important time for students to stay focused and finish strong.
We encourage all families to review assignment completion, grades, and teacher comments in PowerSchool with their child. It’s a great opportunity to have conversations about progress, set goals, and make a plan for success. With final exams, Provincial Achievement Tests, and other end-of-year assessments on the horizon, developing a review plan that breaks studying into manageable chunks can make a big difference — both academically and emotionally.
We’re also excited to share that our leadership students are hard at work planning a Wellness Day coming up next month. This student-led initiative will be focused on helping their peers explore strategies to manage stress and anxiety, build social connections, and enhance important social skills. We’re proud of the care and thought they’re putting into this event and look forward to seeing the impact of their efforts across our school community. We will share details once plans have been finalized.
Finally, I’m looking forward to connecting with many of you at our School Council and Parent Society meetings next Tuesday. Your continued partnership and involvement make a real difference in our school.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
Save the Date – UPDATED: DATE CHANGE (effective April 16)
We are writing to inform you of a change to the date of our Grade 9 Farewell celebration. Originally scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025, the event will now take place on Friday, June 20, 2025.
This change has been made as a result of a recently scheduled citywide flag football tournament on June 6. Due to the complexities of scheduling a date that aligns with the calendars for all schools involved, the date cannot be changed. Several of our Grade 9 students will be participating in this event, and we do not want any student to have to choose between taking part in the tournament and attending their farewell celebration. It’s important to us that all students have the opportunity to fully enjoy this special milestone with their classmates.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make this adjustment. Further details about the farewell event will be shared with families as we get closer to the date.
