Dear DGS families

It’s shaping up to be an exciting spring at DGS!

First, we want to wish our badminton players the best of luck as they begin divisional tournaments this Friday and continuing over the next few weeks! These athletes have been working hard, and we know they’ll represent our school with pride, sportsmanship, and determination. Play with heart, support your teammates, and enjoy the moment - you’ve got this! Go 67s!

We’re also looking forward to cheering on our flag football teams in the near future. It’s always a joy to see so many of our students trying out, competing and coming together as a community. And looking ahead, track and field tryouts will begin next month. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves, try something new, and be part of a team. We encourage all students to come out and give it a go!

May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada, a time to celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and achievements of Canadians of Asian descent. According to the 2021 Census, over seven million people in Canada identify with Asian origins, making up nearly 20% of our population. Their contributions are woven into the fabric of our country in countless ways - from science and the arts to business and community leadership. Throughout May, our school will be recognizing Asian Heritage Month through classroom learning and conversations.

Let’s keep lifting each other up, striving for excellence, and showing kindness in every corner of our school community. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Save the Date – UPDATED: DATE CHANGE

We are writing to inform you of a change to the date of our Grade 9 Farewell celebration. Originally scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025, the event will now take place on Friday, June 20, 2025.

This change has been made as a result of a recently scheduled citywide flag football tournament on June 6. Due to the complexities of scheduling a date that aligns with the calendars for all schools involved, the date cannot be changed. Several of our Grade 9 students will be participating in this event, and we do not want any student to have to choose between taking part in the tournament and attending their farewell celebration. It’s important to us that all students have the opportunity to fully enjoy this special milestone with their classmates.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make this adjustment. Further details about the farewell event will be shared with families as we get closer to the date.
