Dear DGS Families,
Last Friday, during DGS Crew Time, the staff played basketball against the Gr. 7 basketball players. It was fun, action packed, and many stuffed toys were collected for the WINS Society.
The new principal position was posted on Monday and closed on Tuesday. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed the first week back after the winter break.
All of us at DGS wish you a happy, safe and memorable time with friends and family over the winter break. Happy New Year and all the best in 2025!
Traffic Safety
Some Cranston community members expressed safety concerns regarding our school zone to the Calgary Police Service and they showed up on Dec.12 to monitor things. I am used to one officer coming out and speaking with people exhibiting unsafe practices. It is usually low key. This time they had four vehicles and at least four officers with their flashing lights on. It was confusing for our school community. We immediately let our families know via email and will be more proactive in the future. The good news is most drivers were safe and courteous.
Candy Grams
Candy Grams are being sold for 50 cents. Students can make someone’s day by sending them a candy cane and kind thought.
Pets of DGS Calendars
We are hoping to get them delivered before the holidays. They are at the print shop.
Toy Mountain at DGS - only 1 day left to donate!
The Grade 8 Leadership classes are organizing a donation drive for Toy Mountain. We invite all students at DGS to bring in donations of new, unwrapped toys, games, puzzles or gift cards. These will be distributed to children throughout the city in hopes of making their holiday season brighter. Donations can be placed in a box beside the tree in the front foyer. Cash and gift cards will be accepted at the office. Thank you for supporting those less fortunate.
