Dear DGS Families

The beautiful spring season has been wonderful for outdoor activities, including outdoor camp for our grade 7's. The warm weather, has certainly been welcome, though it has also brought some challenges. Due to forest fires in the north, we've experienced smokier conditions than usual. Please be assured that we are actively monitoring air quality levels throughout the day and will continue to make adjustments to activities at school and on field trips to minimize exposure to the smoke. For example, we have a variety of indoor activities available for students during lunch and recess to ensure their well-being and continued engagement.

Tomorrow our Grade 7's are returning from their week at camp, we expect the bus to arrive at DGS by 2:00p.m. We kindly ask that you make arrangements for someone to pick your student up, as they will have all the items they took to camp with them and are likely very tired from their camp adventures!

This week, we also want to extend our best wishes to our Grade 6 and Grade 9 students as they begin writing the remainder of their Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) starting this Friday. We’re proud of their hard work and know they will do their best!

As a reminder, our School Council and Parent Society Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Tuesday June 17 at 7:00 p.m., here at Dr. George Stanley. We encourage all parents and guardians to attend as your involvement and voice play a vital role in the continued success of our school community.
