Dear DGS Families,
It has been wonderful to enjoy some warmer weather this week after the cold blast of winter we experienced recently. Following last week's cold-weather protocols, students have appreciated being able to return outside for recess and lunch. The fresh air and opportunity to move and socialize outdoors has been a welcome change, and it has been great to see the playground and outdoor spaces active again.
Thank you to the parents and guardians who attended our hybrid School Council and Parent Society meetings last night. We were very pleased with the strong turnout and appreciate your time, input, and ongoing support of our school community. As this was our first time offering a hybrid format, we welcome your feedback. If you have suggestions on how we can improve this model moving forward, please let us know.
As always, thank you for your partnership and support. Together, we continue to create a positive, connected, and thriving learning environment for all of our students.
Warm regards,
Chris Keuben

Assurance Survey
In its ongoing commitment to providing a world-class education for Alberta's children, Alberta Education and Childcare will once again conduct its annual survey of Grade 4, 7, and 10 students and their parents or guardians. This survey will gather essential information about students' and parents' school experiences, helping to drive continuous improvements in our education system. This survey will remain open until March 6, 2026.
Parents or guardians of Grade 7 students should have received an email from School Improvement containing a link to the survey, along with a unique Random-Access Code and detailed instructions. We strongly encourage all eligible parents and guardians to participate and share their feedback. Survey participants will be asked about various topics, including:
- Creating welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments
- Student learning engagement
- Parental involvement in children's education
If you require a paper survey or one in another language, such as Ukrainian, Punjabi, Cree, Korean, Denesųłįné, Tagalog, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, or Urdu, please reach out to the school via email or phone.
2024–2027 Education Plan Year 2 Check-In Survey
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is in the second year of its three-year Education Plan: the 2024–2027 Education Plan. This plan was informed by Alberta Education and Childcare expectations, student data, and the perspectives of more than 9,000 CBE community members.
The CBE is conducting a check-in survey from February 23 – March 8 to gather feedback from staff and families to:
- Understand perspectives on how the 2024–2027 Education Plan has been making progress toward its goals
- Inform modifications that may be made to the third year of the current plan, prior to full-scale engagement in the 2026–27 school year to inform the next three-year education plan cycle
The Education Plan adjusted for year three will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval in May 2026. Survey results will be shared in early June. You can access the survey here.
